Maurizio Mencuccini

Maurizio Mencuccini is an ICREA Research Professor of Plant and Ecosystem Ecology at CREAF (Barcelona, Spain). He holds a BSc in Forest Science and a PhD in Plant Environmental Biology from the University of Firenze (Italy). He has held academic positions at the University of Edinburgh (UK) and visiting scientist roles at CSIRO and Western Sydney University (Australia). His research explores the carbon and water cycles of forest ecosystems, with significant contributions to understanding how drought affects tree mortality. He has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher in Plant and Animal Science by Clarivate Analytics and is one of the top Italian scientists in Natural & Environmental Science.
