In this contribution, I will show the activities of the FoodSec group (JRC – Food Security Unit) in support to food security monitoring in low and middle income countries, including: monitoring agriculture with the ASAP Early Warning system, crop yield forecasting at the sub-national and national scale, integrated food security phase forecasting.

Michele Meroni is a consultant at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) within the Food Security Unit. With a background in environmental sciences and a Ph.D. in forest ecology, he specializes in remote sensing for agricultural monitoring and food security. His work involves using Earth observation and meteorological data to monitor agricultural areas, predict crop yields, and support early warning systems for food security in low and middle-income countries.
